From Patagonia to the world

We were founded in 2015, in Santiago de Chile, and in 2017 we moved our head office to the city of Puerto Varas.

At the origin of CurrencyBird are three Chileans who, whilst studying abroad, noticed how complex, slow and expensive it was to transfer money across borders. We came together with the goal of simplifying this process, reducing intermediaries and achieving a fair price for the user.

Along the way, we realised that nature had the answer. Our name is CurrencyBird because the perfect mechanics of birds in flight inspired us to build our platform. Birds create intelligent, light and unerring routes to migrate from one place to another; in the same way, we set out to find the best route to move your money across borders.
